This summer will you head to the beach, or towards a brilliant future? With PricewaterhouseCoopers do both through the PwC Preview program. If you want to take time off to enjoy yourself this summer, and experience what it would be like to work with one of the world’s leading professional services firms, this 5 day program could be just right for you.  As a PwC Preview participant, you will receive one week’s development which will cost you nothing more than your time commitment. You will attend business and employability skills sessions, networking seminars and have the opportunity to ‘shadow’ a PwC partner for a day. Regardless of the degree you are studying you will take away with you some valuable life and business skills and have the chance to experience life at PwC. The program provides:

        employability skills training (application forms, interview and assessment centres),

        business skills training (networking, presentation),

        shadowing staff and Partners on real client work,

        work in the community (on a PwC Foundation project), 

        mentoring,

        the opportunity to be offered a Vacationer or Graduate position for 2009.

To be eligible you must: 

  1. be a 1st year or penultimate year student,
  2. hold Permanent Residency or be an Australian Citizen,
  3. be available from 18 to 22 February 2008.

Research Analyst/Associate

Group Description/ Role outline (type of activities recruit is likely to perform)

1. Delivering Research on:

  • Equities of Sydney companies;
  • Industry sectors in which the companies assigned for coverage operate.
  • Any other assets assigned by the head of the function.

2. Proactively generating investment ideas on stocks and industry sector, as well as thematic investment ideas.

3. Formulating detailed valuation models on stocks using Credit Suisse proprietary quantitative valuation tool.

4. Promptly assessing financial impact of specific news flow on a company of an industry

Training

There are two components to the training within Private Banking: A formal training and development program designed and delivered by some of the most skilled professionals in the financial service industry as well as our own Credit Suisse Relationship Managers and product specialists, supplemented with on-the-job learning. During your tailor-made global training program you will train with peers from all over the world and sit for your regulatory exams. You will start with a global company orientation to learn about Credit Suisse and how we operate. The Private Banking Training Program itself aims to prepare you to successfully perform on the job. You will be provided with an in-depth overview of the products and services provided by Private Banking as well as the skills you need to launch, grow and manage your own business and to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships. You will also be assigned a mentor to help you through the program and support you with your integration. A number of networking opportunities throughout the program will allow you to network with senior management and establish cross-divisional relationships also. A rigorous performance management process will ensure you are clear on your objectives and development points on a regular basis throughout the program.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must be a final year student and have a strong interest in building a career in Australia. A general interest and knowledge of the Australian Economy and Market is required.

“The Deal” is an Asia Pacific competition for students graduating in 2008 or 2009, which is based on a large merger and acquisition case study. The Deal is complex and thoroughly absorbing – exactly like the real thing.

Prizes:

The winning teams will share prize money of USD 1,000 for the University Champions, with a further USD 2,000 for the Country Champions and a further USD 2,000 for the Asia Pacific Champions. The Country Championships for China will be held in Hong Kong and The Country Championships for Australia in Sydney. The Asia Pacific final and award ceremony will be in Hong Kong; if you don’t already live in the venue city for the finals, JPMorgan fly you in and put you up at a hotel.
